DPM Union Foreign Affairs Minister meets with Deputy Secretary of Yunnan Provincial Party Committee of the Communist Party of China

On the sidelines of the 8th Lang­cang-Mekong Foreign Ministers Meetings, U Than Swe, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Min­ister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myan­mar met with Mr Shi Yugang, Deputy Secretary of Yunnan Provincial Party Committee of the Communist Party of the People’s Republic of China on the evening of 9 December, at the Haigeng Garden Hotel in Kunming, China.

 

At the meeting, both sides cordially exchanged views on consolidation of the existing traditional bounds of Myan­mar-China Pauk-Phaw rela­tions, the intensification of border trade, investment and mutually beneficial cooperation between Myanmar and China including Yunnan Province and enhancement of cooperation in matters related to rule of law, security, peace and stability along the border areas of the two countries.

 

In the evening, the Deputy Secretary of Yunnan Provincial Party Committee of the Com­munist Party of China hosted a dinner in honour of the Myan­mar delegation led by the Dep­uty Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of Myanmar at the Haigeng Gar­den Hotel.

 

The Deputy Prime Minis­ter and Union Minister for For­eign Affairs and party arrived back in Myanmar yesterday evening, after attending the 8th Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Foreign Ministers’ Meeting held on 7 December in Beijing, China. The delegation was welcomed back at the Yangon International Airport by Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Mr Chen Hai and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. — MNA
