Durians from Bawgali Area sell well in market

Bawgali, 16 June

Locals in in Bawgali Town, Kayin State enjoyed income from selling durians, one of the seasonal fruits.

The price for durian depends on the size of the fruit and ranges from Ks. 2,000 to Ks. 8,000 in the market. Despite hike prices, durian fruit yield has decreased when compared to the previous year due to extreme hot weather and insects.

A durian tree yielded around 40 fruits in the past, but now it produced only about 20 fruits, said a local farmer. They are satisfied with the durian fruit yield because it fetches a deserved price, he added.
