An essay and poem recitation contest to mark the 71st anniversary of Independence Day took place at a community center in Mohnyin Township, Kachin State this morning.
The event was jointly organized by the Information and Public Relations Department under the Ministry of Information and the Department of Basic Education under the Ministry of Education. Altogether 34 middle school-level students participated in the essay competition titled, “Keep Our Independence”.
A total of 45 middle school students are expected to take part in the poem recitation contest scheduled to be held on 3 January. The prize winners will be awarded by concerned officials at 1 p.m. tomorrow.—Kyaw Kyaw Htwe (IPRD)
