The ministry says the blast occurred while testing propulsion equipment that uses liquid fuel.

Officials note that no toxic substances have been discharged into the air, and that radioactivity levels in the environment are normal.

The blast site is reportedly about 30 kilometers from Severodvinsk, where a maintenance factory for the Russian navy's nuclear-powered submarines is located.
