Families call for resumption of MH370 search

4 March

The families of people who were on board a missing Malaysia Airlines plane have called for the resumption of the search for the aircraft that is believed to have crashed in the Indian Ocean.

The relatives held a rally in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur on Sunday ahead of the fifth anniversary of the mysterious disappearance of flight MH370.

The plane with 239 people on board went missing after leaving Kuala Lumpur for Beijing on March 8, 2014. The search has been called off.

A daughter of a missing woman said the recovery of the aircraft will help to explain why it went missing and prevent similar cases.

Malaysian transport minister Anthony Loke told the rally that he welcomes credible leads and concrete proposals to resume the hunt for the plane.

But the search did not produce any promising leads. There seems to be little chance of resolving the mystery five years after the incident.
