Farmers, businesspeople keen on farming, seed production in Nay Pyi Taw

In a major need for high yield per acre and the development of good-quality rice production, sufficient use and cultivation of pure and high-quality seeds are carried out by collaborative efforts of government depart­ments, private individuals and farmers. As research activities in regional seed production and the exchange of knowledge and technologies are developing in Myanmar, rice millers and farmers from Pyapon, Bogale, Kyaiklat and Mawlamyinegyun townships in Ayeyawady Region viewed private seed production fields in Pyinmana township on 11 November.

 

Nay Pyi Taw Council Area is embodied with agricultural universities, research institutes and experts as well as good cli­mate, water and soil resources. In addition, building a develop­ing model city is also underway based on the agricultural and livestock sector. Farmers and business persons from different regions and states are increas­ingly making investments in the agricultural sector including seed production.

 

Forty rice millers and farm­ers made a field study on the seed production processes of high-yielding rice GW-11 at Great World Tomorrow Seed Produc­tion Company Limited. Seed production experts and officials explained the characteristics of high-quality seed, the needs and experiences of seed production and the prospects of the seed market. They also discussed queries raised by the field study members. — MNA
