Fatal crash in Kyaunggon Township leaves 2 dead, 4 injured

Two people were killed and four others injured in a traffic accident between a truck and a passenger bus in Kyaunggon Township, Ayeyawady Region on Monday afternoon; the Ministry of Home Affairs reported.

The taraffic accident occurred between mileposts 71/1 and 71/2 on the Yangon-Pathein Road near Awasu Village at about 2:10 p.m. on 7 January. A six-wheeled truck was driven by a man named U Myint Oo, 60 years of age with his coworker Zaw Min Naing, 29 years old and was heading to Pathein from Yangon. A passenger bus driven by a man identified as U Myint Hlaing, 43 years of age rear ended the truck while attempting to overtake the truck.
The truck driver and coworker from the passenger bus died on the spot and four others were hurt in the accident. Out of the injured, one person was in critical condition. The corpses and injured people were sent to a public hospital in Kyaunggon Township. The driver from the passenger bus is being questioned over reckless driving by the local police station.—MOHA
