ACCORDING to an of­ficial announcement re­leased by the Department of Myanmar Examina­tions yesterday morning, a total of 255,228 candi­dates sat this year’s ma­triculation examination nationwide.

 

Of these, 133,673 passed, giving an overall pass rate of 52.37 per cent. It was also announced that Ma Thiri Soe, a stu­dent from CAE Private High School in Chanayet­hazan Township, Manda­lay Region, achieved the highest score in the coun­try with 562 marks.

 

“When I first start­ed studying, I never im­agined I would achieve something like this. How­ever, by continuing to work hard, I was able to suc­ceed, and I am extremely happy. My headmistress was also delighted and telephoned to congrat­ulate me. All my teach­ers at school taught us every lesson thoroughly without leaving anything out. I am deeply grateful to my headmistress, my teachers and my private tutors. I am planning to study at the University of Medicine, Mandalay,” Ma Thiri Soe told the media. — TWA/KNN
