Ferry boat fire kills one, injures 3

One person was killed and three others injured in a ferry boat fire in Myaungmya Township, Ayeyawady Region, according to a source from the Ministry of Home Affairs.


A ferry boat operated by a man identified as U Min Min, 41 years old caught fire at about 7:45 a.m. on 10 October. The fire is attributed to have started from an oil spark while an employee from the ferry boat was filling diesel. The ferry boat worker has died and three others were injured in the fire.


The ferry boat was badly damaged by the fire and the injured people were transmitted to a nearby public hospital in Myaungmya. An investigation into the case is ongoing by the police.
