Fire breaks out in Taunggyi

Fire broke out in the town of Taunggyi at about 9:15 am on 16 June, and destroyed the home of U Phone Myint, causing a loss of K 1.7 million, according to the township Fire Services Department.


The fire was thought to have started from overheated wire installed in a refrigerator in the home of U Phone Myint in Yaeyekwin Ward in Taunggyi, Shan State (South).


Firefighters from the township Fire Service Department rushed to the scene to put out the fire in collaboration with locals using six fire engines and three water tankers, and the blaze was totally extinguished at about 9:35 am. 


But no casualties were reported. Authorities filed a case against U Phone Myint for his negligence.
