A fire broke in Shaduzuat Village on Myitkyina-Tanaing Road in Hpakan Township, Kachin State at about 11:20 am yesterday and destroyed 140 shops and 11 houses, according to Hpakan police office.
The fire which was thought to have started from an ember left in a shop and spread to other shops.
Firefighters from the township Fire Services Department rushed to the incident scene to put out the fire in collaboration with villagers using a fire engine, and a water tanker of Zuzana Company near the village. The fire was totally extinguished at about 1:30 am.
But no casualty was reported in the fire.—Win Naing(Kachin Mye)
