Fire at passenger bus line gate in Monghsat causes Ks. 1.4m loss

No casualties were reported after a fire broke out at a passenger bus line gate in Monghsat Township, Eastern Shan State on 21 August.

The fire is believed to have started when the manager of the bus line gate attempted to get gasoline out of the pump at about 1:30 p.m. Upon receiving information, Acting Deputy Commissioner U Tun Tun Win, Township Administrator U Nyein Htwe, firefighters led by Commander of the district fire brigade U Zaw Naing Win, security personnel, policemen and local people extinguished the blaze about 45 minutes later.

The fire engulfed one-storey building measuring 30 ft. in length, 40 ft. in width and household items. The estimated loss of property due to the fire is over Ks. 1.4 million. Action has been taken against the manager of the bus line gate by the local police.—Than Zaw (Monghsat)
