Fire torches three houses in Mawlamyine

Three houses were destroyed in a fire in Mandalay Ward, Mawlamyine in Mon State, according to a source from the Information and Public Relations Department.

The fire is believed to have started from an overheated electric fan in a house of woman named Daw Wint Wah aka Daw Khaing Wah Myint at about 7 p.m. on 23 May. Firefighters, volunteers from local social organizations and residents led by Commander of the district police force Police Lt-Col Tin Htoo and Township Administrator U Wai Lin Tun rushed to the scene of fire to put out the flame.

They took about 45 minutes to extinguish the blaze with the use of five fire engines and four water tankers and no casualties were reported in the incident.—IPRD
