Two people including a child lost their lives as a flash flood swept through the Sozma Qala district of north Afghanistan's Sari Pul province on Wednesday, district governor Mullah Mohammad Hussain said Thursday.
Heavy rain triggered a flash flood in parts of the Sozma Qala district on Wednesday afternoon, he added.
The flood also destroyed hundreds of acres of farmlands in the district, the official said, without providing more details.
Parts of Afghanistan, including the capital Kabul and mountainous provinces, have experienced rain and snowfall over the past two days.
