Hlaingbwe 6 August

Flash floods following torrential rains caused a bridge near milepost 29.2 and 29.4 on the Hlaingbwe-Shan Ywathit Road in Hpa-an District, Kayin State to collapse.

The bridge measuring 195 ft. long and 30 ft. wide is being eroded by flash floods, causing the bridge to collapse at about 9:30 a.m. on 5 August due to incessant rains. Town Administrator U Naing Win Aung together with policemen, firefighters and concerned officials rushed to the damaged bridge.

The bridge collapse has led to the closure of traffic temporarily and currently only motorbikes can traverse the bridge.—IPRD
