Flood victims evacuated to rescue camps as Zami River surpasses its danger mark

A new rescue camp has been set up in Kyainn-Seikkyi Township, Kayin State as some wards and villages were submerged by floodwaters after the water level of Zami River exceeded about one foot above 35 ft. of its danger level.

The water level of Zami River surpassed its danger marks following incessant heavy rains that hit the township since 1 August. Flood victims were evacuated to rescue camps in the township.

Security personnel from local battalions, firefighters, volunteers from social organizations, ward and village administrators were involved in the evacuation process of flood victims who were shifted to relief camps by boats and vehicles.—Myo Min Oo (IPRD)
