THE MNL Fixture (13) kicked off yesterday at Thuwunna Youth Training Centre, where Hanthawady United and Yangon United played to a 2-2 tie.
Both teams aimed to apply pressure on table-toppers Shan United, but the match ended in a stalemate, proving to be a frustrating result for both sides. With this draw, only Shan United could capitalize on their performance to gain points.
The match was intensely contested right from the start. Hanthawady took the lead in the first half with a goal in the 11th minute by Than Toe Aung and added a second goal in the 33rd minute by Aung Myat Thu, giving them a two-goal advantage.
However, Yangon United made tactical changes in the second half and managed to fight back, scoring two goals within six minutes to equalize. Goals for Yangon were scored by Okka Naing in the 55th minute and Wai Lin Aung in the 61st minute. Wai Lin Aung was named the player of the match.
Following this draw, Hanthawady United has accumulated 32 points from 13 matches, while Yangon United has 31 points from the same number of games.
