Head-on collision claims 3 dead, one injured in ChaungU

Three people were killed and one other slightly injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a mini-truck in ChaungU Township, Sagaing Region on 11 July.
    

 

The accident occurred between mileposts 65/2 and 65/3 on the Monywa-Mandalay Road near Ngashan Village, ChaungU Township at about 10 a.m. on 11 July. A passenger bus driven by a man named Saw Set San, 26 years old was heading to Mandalay from Myaing Township while Monywa-bound mini-truck was driven by a man identified as Thant Zin Phyo, 26 years old. The passenger bus collided with the mini-truck and three people—one man and two women—were pronounced dead at the scene of accident.
    

 

One woman was also hurt in the incident and the injured person was transferred to a public hospital in ChaungU. The two drivers are being questioned over reckless driving by the local police.—MOHA
