One person has died and 11 others were injured after a head-on collision between two cars in NyaungU Township, Mandalay Region early this morning.
A police squad led by Police Sub-inspector Thet Naing Tun together with eye witnesses rushed to the scene of accident. The accident took place at a detour near Myaynelay Village on the NyaungU-Myingyan Road at about 1:10 a.m. today. A Pajero car driven by a man named U Tin Ko with five people aboard collided with a light truck driven by a man identified as Min Min Oo together with five people in the car. The motorist from the Pajero car was pronounced dead at the scene and ten others were hurt in the accident.
The injured people were sent to a nearby public hospital in NyaungU. The two motorists have been charged with reckless driving by the local police.—Ye Win Naing (NyaungU)
