Two people were killed and nine others were hurt in a head-on collision between a light truck and a lorry in ChaungU Township, Sagaing Region, the Ministry of Home Affairs said.
The fatal accident occurred between mileposts 65/3 and 65/4 on the Mandalay-Monywa Road near Nat Yaykan Village in ChaungU Township at about 10:40 p.m. on 15 March. A light truck driven by a man named Myint Than (alias) Ngwe Htay, 45, with 12 people on board collided with another truck coming from an opposite direction. Two people from the truck were pronounced dead on the scene.
In addition, nine people were injured in the accident and two of them were said to be in critical condition. The injured people were sent to a public hospital in Monywa and the drivers are being questioned over reckless driving by the local police.—MOHA
