Hlinethaya’s 500 kV substation project 75% complete

June 14

According to the Yangon Region Electricity Transmission and Control Department, 75 per cent of the project to build a substation with a 500 kV system has been completed in Hlinethaya Township.

Currently, the 230 kV voltage will start transmitting power this July, even though the 500 kV substation is still under construction. The entire project is scheduled to be completed by April 2025. Additionally, the installation of transformers and shunt reactors, the installation of Hybrid Gas Insulated Switchgear (HGIS), and the construction of the Control Building are also underway.

After the completion of the 500 kV Kankaung (Meiktila)-Sabakywe (Toungoo) grid, electricity will be able to be transmitted and distributed to the Yangon Region and the southern regions of Myanmar through the 230 kV Thabyaywa-Taungdwingyi and 230 kV Thabyaywa-Thazi-Shwe Myo-Pyinmana-Thaephyu-Toungoo grid via the 230 kV Thabyaywa substation. — TWA/MKKS
