Fire in an overhead bin on a Hong Kong Airlines flight forced an emergency landing. The airline confirmed the safety of all 168 people on board.

The Thursday afternoon service was from Hangzhou on the eastern Chinese coast to Hong Kong.

A Hong Kong TV station aired video that shows burn marks on an overhead luggage compartment. It also revealed passengers and cabin attendants using bottles of water to douse the blaze as smoke began to fill the cabin. The video appeared to have been taken by a passenger.

Media said authorities have not confirmed details of what sparked the fire, but preliminary reports suggest it was a mobile battery in a passenger's bag.
