Hong Kong leader slams protesters

Hong Kong police have clashed with protesters who are against a planned legal revision that would enable criminal suspects to be sent to mainland China. More than 70 people have been injured.

Tens of thousands of people have occupied the streets and surrounded the legislature building, demanding that the bill be withdrawn.

Some demonstrators clashed with police, prompting the authorities to disperse them with rubber bullets and tear gas.
As of 10 p.m. local time on Wednesday, 72 were reportedly injured, two seriously.

Earlier lawmakers were forced to delay debating the bill after protestors essentially shut down the streets near the legislature. It is unclear when the debate will take place.
