Honour to be given for UNESCO award to Bagan

A ceremony will be held today to honour individuals and the relevant organizations for their efforts to win recognition by UNESCO to Bagan as a World Heritage Site.

For the successful holding of this ceremony, private firms from hotel and tourism industry yesterday donated cash at the Sapphires Hall of Ministry of Hotels and Tourism in Nay Pyi Taw, in the presence of Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture Thura U Aung Ko, Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism U Ohn Maung, Deputy Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Kyi Min and officials, and the representatives from the donor associations.

Union Minster U Ohn Maung expressed thanks for the cash donation to hold the hounouring ceremony and those who worked for Bagan to be named as UNESCO’s World Heritage Site.

He said, “The Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture, officials from relevant ministries and the organizations from both the government and the private sectors are appreciated for their works in the whole process together with the experts from tourism industry.” Then, Foreign Investment Hotels Association donated K. 10 million, Myanmar Hotelier Association K 1 million, Myanmar Tourism Federation K 500,000, and Myanmar Food Industries Association K 500,000 respectively.

Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture Thura U Aung Ko received cash donation, and gave honour of certificates to the donors before expressing thanks for donation.—MNA (Translated by Aung Khin)
