Illegal teak, industrial materials, consumer goods, auto parts and vehicles confiscated

UNDER the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, effective action is taken to prevent illegal trade. On-duty teams under the management of Kayin State Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force, a team inspected warehouses in Hpa-an and seized four items including 850 cartons of Singha beer worth over K59.3 million without official documents. Another team at Thanlwin bridge checkpoint searched a vehicle heading to Yangon from Myawady and seized two items including 40 used 32-inch-TVs and that the Kinglong Mini Bus was worth over K69.03 million without official documents. The action was taken under Customs procedures.

 

On 28 April, assigned customs teams under the management of the Customs Department seized 25 items of goods including 10 B/N Excavator And Bulldozer Spare Parts Sprockets and 7,568 Excavator And Bulldozer Spare Parts Bucket Bushes worth more than K82.09 million from two containers without import licences at Asia World Container Checkpoint. Action was taken under the Customs procedures.

 

Similarly, an inspection team under the management of Bago Region Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force on 30 April conducted an inspection in Taikkyi Township and seized a Skart vehicle worth K450,000 without official documents. The action was taken under the law.

 

On 30 April, an inspection team from Monywa Myoma police station under the management of Sagaing Region Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force conducted an inspection at Kyweye combined checkpoint in Monywa and seized a Voxy vehicle worth K6 million. The action was taken under the export/import law. Another inspection team in Mawlaik seized 2.382 tonnes of illegal teak worth over K7.8 million in Hmawku reserved forest near Namkhanpat creek in Mawlaik. The action was taken under the forest law.

 

Therefore, seven arrests (estimated value of K158,365,733) were made on 27, 28 and 30 April, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee. — MNA/KZW
