Illegal timber logs seized on Shweli River

Different sizes of timber logs were seized on the Shweli River near Inn Village, Katha Township in Sagaing Region on 2 August.

A team led by U Myint Naing Oo, Assistant Director of the Forest Department together with eye witnesses went to a scene near Inn Village bases on an anonymous tipoff. They found two suspicious rafts on the Shweli River and confiscated various timber which were weighing 9.4872 tons and were concealed under rafts made of bamboo.

A probe has been ordered to investigate the seizure of teak logs by forestry officials.—Lu Aung
