India Technical and Economic Cooperation-ITEC Day observed in Nay Pyi Taw

A ceremony to observe the India Technical and Economic Cooperation-ITEC Day was held at Thingaha Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.


It was attended by Chairman of the Union Election Commission U Hla Thein, Union Minister for Education Dr Myo Thein Gyi, Union Auditor-General U Maw Than, members of the UEC, Indian Ambassador Mr Saurabh Kumar, permanent secretaries of the ministries, directors-general, those who attended the trainings in India under the ITEC programme.


The ceremony began with opening remarks by Ambassador Mr Saurabh Kumar and Union Minister Dr Myo Thein Gyi.


Afterwards, the trainees detailed about ITEC programme and shared their experiences in India.


Afterwards, the event continued with Vaishnav Jan To song to mark the 150th Birthday of Mahatma Gandi.


Next, Mr V K Talwar, Second Secretary of the Embassy of India expressed thanks.


Before enjoying the dinner, UEC Chairman U Hla Thein, Union Minister Dr Myo Thein Gyi, Union Auditor-General U Maw Than, Ambassador Mr Saurabh Kumar and dignitaries posed for the documentary photo.


India Technical and Economic Cooperation-ITEC began in 1996 offering normal trainings and special trainings.


Indian Council for Cultural Relations grants scholarships to Myanmar students every year. The programme has introduced advanced trainings such as e-ITEC.
