Indian solo cyclist on 7-nation tour arrives in Yangon

20 September

Ji Ingobi Chingtham, a 21-year-old cyclist from Imphal, Manipur, India arrived in Yangon on 18 September as part of his solo seven-nation tour. The seven-month tour will spread the idea of One World One Family, or global integration, he said.

Ji Ingobi Chingtham visited the Shwedagon and Botataung Pagodas and the Indian Embassy in Yangon.

“In Myanmar, I feel so really happy because the people of Myanmar show kindness and sympathy to foreigners. When I was travelling from Mandalay, one of the locals on the roadside asked me: ‘Brother, where do you coming from? Did you have any food?’ He offered me breakfast. So, I had some breakfast with him. The people are really good. Now, the country is developed. Earlier, a people were wary of travelling through the border pass between India and Myanmar. Nowadays, people from India and Myanmar can easily travel to and fro, and I would like to share my message with the people of both the nations. The road is very nice, somewhere between Tamu and Mandalay, the road is very hilly.”

During his solo trip, Ji Ingobi Chingtham will cover about 10,000 km and pass through Southeast Asian countries, including Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, and Singapore.

He said he will travel from Yangon to Bago and Myawaddy via the Thai-Myanmar friendship bridge and continue to Thailand, where he will participate in the Global Goals MUN 2.0 International Youth Leadership event from 30 September to 9 October. Thereafter, he will proceed to Malaysia.
