India's COVID-19 death toll rises to 937 as total cases reach 29,974

India's federal health ministry Tuesday evening said three new deaths due to COVID-19, besides 539 fresh positive cases, were reported since the morning across the country, taking the number of deaths to 937 and total cases to 29,974.

"As on 5:00 p.m. (local time), today 937 deaths related to novel coronavirus have been recorded in the country," said an information released by the ministry.

According to the ministry's officials, so far 7,027 people have been discharged from hospitals after showing improvement.

Tuesday marks the 35th straight day of ongoing lockdown across the country announced by the government to contain the spread of the pandemic.

The lockdown which was announced on March 25 has been extended until May 3.
