The founder of the International Buddhist Education Center (IBEC) in Sagaing City and the Stockholm World Peace Prize 2018 winner U Sobita has been awarded honorary doctorate by the United Nations-established prestigious university in India.

The honorary doctorate will be conferred on Sayadaw Bhaddanta U Sobita from Myanmar and Mr. Paya Ratana Maharjan from Nepal by the International Peace University in recognition to their contributions in social and philanthropic activities, according to a source from the information section of the International Buddhist Education Center (IBEC).
The honorary doctorate will be presented to the winners at a special convocation event to be held in Bangalore, the capital of India's southern Karnataka state on 30 May.—Myo Win Nyo
