Inter-club boxing championship kicks off in Pyinmana

Sponsored by the Sports and Physical Education Department under the Ministry of Health and Sports, an inter-club boxing championship kicked off at Paunglaung Hall in Pyinmana, Nay Pyi Taw Council Area yesterday evening.

 

The event was held to mark the 71st anniversary of Independence Day. First, Vice-Chairman of the township sports and physical education committee and head of the township police force Police Captain Myint Aung made an opening speech and patron of the township boxing sub-committee U Myint Swe explained the purpose of the contest. The aim of the competition is to turn out new generation boxers capable of bringing “great dignity” to the country.

 

More than 100 boxers contested in the contest and the final matches will be held in conjunction with prize awarding ceremony on 4 January.—Soe Moe (IPRD)
