The inter-ward/village football tourney jointly organized by the Sports and Physical Education Department and the township football association was opened at a military station sport ground in Kawthoung, Taninthayi Region yesterday evening.
The football contest is held under the township sports development programme. Chairman of the township sports and physical education committee Township Adminisrator U Zaw Lin Tun gave a speech and opened the competition. The team representing Padauk Shwewah Ward played against the squad representing Aung Thukha Ward in the opening match of the competition.
A total of 12 teams throughout the township are drawn into four groups. All participation teams will play in a round robin format and the final match of the tourney which is held with the aim of producing outstanding players is slated to be held on 18 October.
