Israel conducts air strikes on Syria

3 June

The Israeli military says it has carried out air strikes on military positions in Syria in retaliation for rocket attacks the previous day.

It says two rockets were launched from neighboring Syria on Saturday night. It says one of them landed on a location in the vicinity of its military facilities on the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.

The attacks reportedly did not result in any casualties.

The Israeli military told NHK that its fighter jets and helicopters raided more than five Syrian military positions near the capital, Damascus, and in the southern Province of Quneitra early Sunday morning.

The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says ten people, including three Syrian soldiers, were killed in Sunday's air strikes.
