Israeli warplanes strike Gaza in response to rocket attack: sources

Israeli warplanes struck the Gaza Strip on Thursday evening after a rocket was launched from the coastal enclave into southern Israel, Palestinian security sources said.

The sources told Xinhua on condition of anonymity that the airstrike targeted training sites that belong to Palestinian factions in northern and southern Gaza, with no injuries reported.

Israeli media also reported the Israeli air bombing targeting the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli army announced earlier that a rocket fired from the Gaza Strip landed in an open area in southern Israel, causing no injuries or damage.

No Palestinian group has claimed responsibility for the rocket attack, the second in the past two days.
