Japan Airlines has canceled nearly 50 flights for Friday due to an approaching typhoon. Most of them were scheduled to depart from or arrive at the southern prefecture of Okinawa.

As of 10 a.m. Thursday, JAL had canceled 48 flights due to the expected impact from Typhoon Bavi.

They include flights to and from Naha Airport, Miyako Airport and Painushima Ishigaki Airport in Okinawa Prefecture. Flights to and from Kagoshima Airport and airports on remote islands of Kagoshima Prefecture have also been canceled.

Other airlines say their flights may also be affected by the typhoon. They are asking passengers to check their websites for the latest information.
