Japan's health ministry says it confirmed 32,571 new cases of the coronavirus and 253 deaths nationwide on Monday.
In Tokyo, the number of new infections was 2,677, down 1,756 from a week ago.
The ministry confirmed 31 deaths in the capital, down two from Sunday.
