Johnson, Macron discuss Brexit

The leaders of Britain and France have discussed Brexit. French President Emmanuel Macron denied the possibility of renegotiation but agreed to seek concessions.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson was in France on Thursday, following his trip to Germany.

Johnson told Macron that he believes it is possible to agree on a deal, but suggested that Britain will leave the EU on October 31 regardless.

Britain needs to come up with an alternative solution to the Irish border issue, a sticking point for the EU in accepting a deal.

Macron said "We will not find a new withdrawal agreement that deviates far from the original."

The French presidential office says the two leaders agreed that the EU and Britain will try to come up with concessions before the end of September.

Johnson also agreed with German Chancellor Angela Merkel that Britain will set out a concrete proposal within 30 days.

It is still uncertain whether the EU and Britain can find a way to avoid a no-deal Brexit.
