Joint Working Group on Cooperation between Myanmar-EEC for MoC holds 1st session in Nay Pyi Taw

The first Session of the Joint Working Group on Cooperation between Myanmar and the Eur­asian Economic Commission (EEC) for the memorandum of cooperation signed on 15 June 2023 was held at Horizon Lake View Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw yes­terday.

 

Union Minister for Invest­ment and Foreign Economic Re­lations Dr Kan Zaw and Chargé d’affaires ai Mr Klabukov Pavel of the Russian Embassy in Myan­mar first made opening speeches.

 

Mr Sergey Glazyev, Minister for Integration of Macroeconom­ics of the EEC, then discussed the integration measures of EEC, technology, economics, cooperation and finance, and the business people from EAEU member states introduced their companies.

 

During the first session of the Joint Working Group on co­operation between Myanmar and EEC held on the same afternoon, Joint Working Group Union Min­ister Co-Chairs Dr Kan Zaw and Mr Sergey Glazyev, welcomed the holding of the first session.

 

Speaking at the event, the Union minister highlighted the holding of the first session to en­hance the cooperation between Myanmar and EEC and create economic cooperation for a win-win situation.

 

He continued that the coun­try is making efforts to collabo­rate and connect to overcome the regional economic cooperation challenges. At the same time, it operates direct flights between Myanmar and Russia, which is also an EAEU member, aiming at bolstering the trade and tourism sectors.

 

He further said that the promising economic circles and investments, in addition to the bilateral relationships between the EAEU members and Myan­mar, can be achieved through sector-wise dialogues.

 

He then talked about the gov­ernment’s activities to promote the SME sector, setting priorities to lure more investments.

 

Mr Sergey Glazyev also men­tioned the constructive relation­ship between EEC and Myanmar after signing the memorandum of cooperation, appreciated the promising areas for trade and economic cooperation between EEC members and Myanmar, and invited the representatives of the government, experts and business people to collaborate.

 

Afterwards, the representa­tives of EEC, relevant ministries and organizations discussed are­as of industry and agro-industrial complex, finance, transport and logistics, energy tourism, digi­talization and enhancement of business cooperation.

 

The Co-Chairs then agreed on a joint statement of first ses­sion and the venue of the sec­ond session of the Joint Working Group. — MNA/KTZH
