Kaunghmulon Pagoda to host Buddha Pujaniya festival for 12 days

The Buddha Pujaniya festival will kick off at the ancient his­toric Kaunghmulon Pagoda in Machanbaw township, Kachin state, from 13 to 24 February with a large number of pilgrims, said U Ye Htun, member of Kaung­hmulon Pagoda Board of Trus­tees.

 

“The opening ceremony of the Buddha Pujaniya festival will commence on 13 February, and the recitation of seven Abhidham­ma treatises will be included from 14 to 22 February for nine days. The festival will feature the Up­patasanti Paritta reciting ritual by 27 Sayadaws, the offering of trust funds, the Htamane-mak­ing ceremony, the Mathoe Robe Weaving ceremony on 23 Febru­ary as well as the light offering ceremony at the Pagoda Square in the evening,” said U Ye Htun.

 

The consecration and Mathoe Robe Weaving offer­ing ceremonies will be hosted at the nine Buddha Images of Kaunghmulon Pagoda at 5 am on 24 February. Additionally, the event of sacred water pouring into the Malikha river at 8 am and the successful conclusion of the Buddha Pujaniya festival with sharing merits will be started at 9:30 am. — ASH/MKKS
