Korean-funded school handed over to Education Dept.

A ceremony to inaugurate a three-storey school facility was held in conjunction with a handing over to the Department of Education at basic education middle school No.22 in Pyigyidagun Township, Mandalay Region this morning.

The school structure was formally opened by Deputy Speaker of the Mandalay Regional parliament Dr. Khin Maung Htay, Pyithu Hluttaw Representative U Kyaw Soe Lin, Director of the Department of Education U Soe Lwin and Chief Executive Officer of the World Vision International Korea Mr. Min Song Yi by cutting a ceremonial ribbon. Next, the regional parliament deputy speaker, the director of the Education Department, and Operation Director of the World Vision International Korea U Soe Kyaw Kyaw gave speeches.

Afterwards, Chief Executive Officer of the World Vision International Korea Mr. Min Song Yi spoke his delight for donating the new school and Project Manager of the World Vision International Korea U Sai Zaw Moon handed over documents relating to the school facility to Township Education Officer Daw Swe Swe San. Then the regional parliament deputy speaker and concerned officials presented certificates of honour to the donors. The school is 80 ft. in length and 30 ft. in width and consists of nine classrooms.

It was built at a cost of Ks. 160 million in which Ks. 135 million was contributed by the World Vision International Korea and Ks. 25 million was donated by residents in the ward. Construction of the new school began on 15 June 2018 and was completed o 5 June this year, said U Than Aung, an accountant of the school construction committee.—Than Zaw Min (IPRD)
