Land administration central committee holds 32nd coordination meeting

The Central Committee on Administration of Vacant, Fallow and Virgin Lands organized its 32nd coordination meeting yesterday.


Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr Aung Thu, in his capacity as the Chairman of the committee discussed the necessary assistance for the organizations and those who related in farmland issue and efforts of government in permitting the use of proper vacant, fallow and virgin lands to develop the country’s industrial sector.


He also highlighted the need to scrutinize not to include the currently used land like ethnic people’s customary land and lands for religious affairs, social, education, health and transportation. Then, Secretary U Thet Naing Oo of the committee briefed the facts related to the vacant, fallow and virgin lands management and the attendees coordinated the discussion.


The meeting also focused on the applications for the use of vacant, fallow and virgin lands, reviews on the performance of the committee, comments of relevant ministries during this government term, special investigating team for the inspection on the use of lands and complaint reports on applications for the use of vacant, fallow and virgin lands.


As some of the residents of Nay Pyi Taw Council and regions/states do not apply land use permit for their customary farmlands, their farmlands are recognized as fallow and virgin land to date. The Department of Land Management and Statistics conducts educating programmes for the public to apply for the use of vacant, fallow and virgin lands in accordance with the procedures.
