Large haul of drugs confiscated in some Townships

Kyat 3.3 billion worth of drugs seized in Pyay Township of Bago Region and Minhla Township of Magway Region, as reported by the Myanmar Police Force.

 

Following a tip-off, a combined team consisting of members of Security Force searched a ISUZU Light Truck vehicle driven by Hein Paing Oo at the entrance of Nawade Bridge in Pyay Township of Bago Region at about 9:00 am on February 13 and seized 142000 stimulant tablets in the car. After making some interrogations, a combined team apprehended Aung Ko Lat, Zaw Myint and Linn Linn Htike along with a Bighorn vehicle and 240000 stimulant pills near No. 205 mile post on Pathein-Monywa highway in Minhla Township of Magway Region at 7:30 pm on the same day.

 

In a similar incident, a combined team raided a restaurant in the town of Mindon on February 14 and arrested Kyaw Hla in connection with drug trafficking case. Police members seized K 3.3 billion worth of drugs in their operation.

 

The seized drugs were transported from Yangon Region to Shan State, and the offenders were prosecuted under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law and further investigation is underway, according to the Myanmar Police Force.—MNA
