Large haul of drugs seized in some Townships

Police members from Maungtaw Anti-Drug Squad-46 signaled a boat for inspection in a stream at the ferry near Makyichaung, Maungtaw Township on 31 July and a man on board  jumped out of the boat and swam away to escape from arresting. Authorities searched the boat and seized 72000 stimulant tablets worth K 144.0 million, according to the information released by Myanmar Police Force.

 

In a similar incident on the same day, policemen from Loilem Anti-Drug Squad-27 intercepted a vehicle driven by Soe Naing with Kyaw Thura on board on Loilem-Taunggyi Road near Hotint Village in Loilem Township and seized ICE stimulant tablets weighing 1000 grams, 4000 stimulant tablets, K 525000, three mobile phones, a gold ring, a silver ring, an earring and a watch.

 

Similarly, Policemen from Dopin police outpost the same day raided the house of Daw Aye Aye Aung in Piphaya Village, Naungcho Township and seized 7020 stimulant tablets in the house. Police member from Naungcho Anti-Drug Squad-24 intercepted a motorbike driven by Saing San Yuam with Ma Thinza Kyaw on board and a motorbike driven by Sai Sein on Muse-Mandalay Road in Naungcho Township and seized heroin weighing 3960, K 100,000 and three mobile phones from them.

 

The authorities filed charges against all suspects under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.—MPF
