At least 2 killed, 9 injured in train collision in central Chile

At least two people were killed and nine others injured in a head-on collision between two trains in San Bernardo, just outside Santiago, the State Railway Company (EFE) reported Thursday.

 

Shortly after Wednesday midnight, a test train and a cargo train operated by the private rail company Fepasa collided on the main railway line in San Bernardo, according to EFE.

 

As a result of the collision, two workers on the cargo train were killed. "Likewise, the staff of the train being tested suffered injuries of varying degrees and are being treated in a healthcare center," said EFE, adding that there were nine people injured with no life risk.
