Lethwei Championship for new generation held in Yangon

With the aim of creating new Myanmar traditional boxers (Lethwei fighters), Myanmar Lethwei Federation launched the Lethwei Championship for new generation marking 2024 Olympic Day in Theinbyu Boxing Gym­nasium in Mingala Taungnyunt Township of Yangon yesterday.

 

The Lethwei championship includes 37 fights featuring men’s two-round bouts, men’s special three-round bouts and women’s three bouts.

 

“This competition is for the emergence of new comers. Young people are learning in various martial arts clubs. Because of this, young people have the desire to fight, so we are holding it in collaboration with the federation and former open class champion Lone Chaw to commemorate the Olympics,” said U Kyaw Zin Oo, Chief Executive Officer of the Myanmar Lethwei Federation.

 

During the tourney, Dr Tin Aung Lwin, President of the Myanmar Lethwei Federation donated K500,000 to Lone Chaw Lethwei (LCL) Group, supervisor of the tourney. — Arkar Linn/KZL
