Lightning, rain-related accidents kill 12 in India's Bihar

At least 12 people were killed and several others injured in lightning and rain-related accidents in India's eastern state of Bihar, the state-run broadcaster All India Radio (AIR) said Wednesday.

Heavy rains and thunderstorms accompanied by lightning strikes lashed the state on Tuesday affecting several parts.

Officials said most of the victims were farmers working in the fields when the lightning struck.

The Meteorological department has predicted heavy rains and lightning in different parts of the state in the next five days.

Official data showed that 907 people were killed in 2022 due to lightning strikes across India.
