UNION Minister for Ag­riculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Min Naung received BIMSTEC Sec­retary-General Mr Indra Mani Pandey at the Union Minister’s guest room in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

During the meeting, they held a cordial and open discussion on My­anmar’s activities as the lead country in the agri­culture and food security sector under BIMSTEC cooperation, as well as accelerating regional co­operation with greater emphasis on food security among BIMSTEC mem­ber states. They also dis­cussed the implementa­tion of work plans already drawn up for BIMSTEC agriculture and livestock cooperation, systematic monitoring of progress, and the strengthening of information and tech­nology exchange among member countries, in­cluding cooperation in research, technology transfer, capacity build­ing, trade, and invest­ment. — MNA/MKKS
