Man attempting to assault police with knife shot

The police fired one shot at a sword-holding man and arrested him in Shwenanttha model village in Mingaladon Township, Yangon Region on Saturday; the Ministry of Home Affairs reported.

 

The police from a local police outpost together with eye witnesses went to a house in Shwenanttha Village after received information that a drunkard was attempting to destroy a vehicle and a motorbike belonging to his brother by marriage named U Aung Myo, 47. Upon arrival at the house, a knife wielding man attempted to attack the police squad. The police first persuaded the man to surrender his weapon. But the man denied to do so, so the police fired one shot at him and caught him before transferring him to a public hospital in North Okkalapa.

 

The man identified as Chit Thein, 47 years of age has been charged with attempting to attack the civil servants by the local police, according to the MOHA.—By Kyaw Htike Soe
