THE Myanmar Cultural Heritage Trust (MCHT) will offer a 12-month marionette making course free of charge starting from 6 July, covering wood carving, miniature costuming and stringing techniques.
The course will be conducted from 9 am to 4 pm from Monday to Friday at the State High School of Fine Arts on Kaba Aye Road in Bahan Township. A group of trainers led by Saya U Aung Than Tun will help trainees guide the art of marionette making from scratch to market. The trainees must have good eyesight and craftsmanship. The number of trainees is limited to 15. Those between 16 and 45 years can join the course. MCHT will award completion certificates. Furthermore, they will have opportunities to connect with professionals in the Myanmar theatrical marionette industry.
Interested individuals need to submit the application along with a citizenship scrutiny card, a household registration copy, police clearance to MCHT by 15 June.
