On 21 December, the Myanmar Embassy in Tokyo announced the salary income tax for Myanmar workers in Japan, which will be set at two per cent.
For Myanmar nationals working in Japan with an average monthly income of 200,000 yen, a 4,000-yen income tax will be imposed. However, with a relief amount of 2,000 yen, the actual monthly income tax payable will be 2,000 yen.
The statement added that if the monthly average income falls below 200,000 yen, the income tax for workers will be based on a 150,000 yen monthly average income, resulting in a 3,000-yen income tax. With a relief amount of 2,000 yen, the net monthly income tax payable will be 1,000 yen.
Additionally, the Myanmar Embassy in Tokyo will issue income tax receipts. Taxpayers can apply for a certificate of income tax paid at the embassy within a specified period, and upon application, the embassy will provide a certificate detailing the income tax amount and average income amount, as outlined in the announcement. — TWA/TKO
